Palace of Fine Arts engagement in San Francisco // Blake & Kristen

san francisco romantic engagement

how he asked-torrance wedding-photographyWe set off on a two week vacation to visit Budapest, Vienna, Salzberg, Munich for Oktoberfest, and finishing off in Prague.

We had visited Budapest, Vienna and then headed over to Salzberg. That night Blake surprises me and tells me the following afternoon we are going to a Chateau in Schloss Fussi overlooking a serene lake where we are going to stay the night. I thought this rather interesting because we rarely treat ourselves to nice hotels so I thought something was up. That night I get all dressed up and we head to dinner, nothing..totally thought if something was going to happen it would have happened there.  In the morning, it is pouring! so we head to breakfast and then make our way out of Schloss and onto another little town outside of Munich. We head to Oktoberfest and then make our way to Prague where we have three days!  On the 2nd night there we are craving some normal food and we LOVE mexican food. A girl we had met at Oktoberfest was studying abroad in Prague and told us about this Mexican restaurant that was the best she’s ever had, so we decided to try it out. (Definitely not even close to the best we had, but she was from Providence and we live in CA – enough said).  Anyway Blake is acting a bit funny all night and is SO sweaty. I really didn’t think much of it to be honest…we ate dinner and then after every meal we always try and get lost in the streets to make our way back tot he hotel and Blake always leads…so he leads me over to this small little bridge that is a love lock bridge. I LOVE love luck bridges – I fell in love with them when we went to Paris and even in Budapest, and Vienna they had them as well. Well he surprised me with a lock! how romantic! so we put the lock on, threw the key in the little stream and took a few pictures. Little did I know that when I was putting the lock on he had pulled out the ring, after pictures..he got down on his knee and the rest is history!! That night I found out that this was only a plan B. His plan A was actually at the Chateau and he had organized for us in the morning to take a paddle boat out to the middle of the lake where he would propose there and the hotel had already planned to have strawberries and champagne for when we returned however that morning it POURED – it was the ONLY day the entire trip it rained. But to be honest I liked the last minute Plan B better anyway. More us 🙂
That’s our LONG story!! 🙂  And we are celebrating 6 years together in a few weeks!

    From the Bride

Before I even was engaged, I knew that I wanted a Oak Grove wedding at SaddleRock Ranch. There are so many reasons why I wanted to get married in this magical place, but my biggest reason is that it’s an adventure. Jacob and I had loved adventure from the beginning. We originally met on ok cupid. So silly, I know, but I always knew that my soulmate would find me somehow. Thank goodness for the internet!

One of my favorite memories with Jacob was the day he proposed. Through his work, Jacob was invited on a trip to visit economic development, education, and health care projects in Kenya. Jacob had begged and begged me for months to come to Africa with him. Finally, he convinced me to meet him in Nairobi at the end of his trip. We were planning to travel in Uganda together and take a safari tour for a week.  It was a magical dream.

The safari drives were enlightened, filled with gorgeous animals and beautiful landscapes. We went biking in a zebra-filled national park. We were able to feed many African animals in a nursery for the little babies. And finally, we went hiking with gorillas. After one of our drives in Queen Elizabeth National Park, the guide drove us to a lookout point over the Great Rift Valley. We stayed there for a while, waiting for the sunset. As the sun started setting, Jacob expressed his love for me and asked “Uganda marry me?” Of course I cried, then I jumped up and down and nodded my head. I was crying so hard I couldn’t even say the word, “YES!” And that was start of our magical wedding adventures. What an amazing adventure we get to cherish!

    ~ with love, Negin

    From the Photographers
It’s such a blessing that we were able to work with Jacob & Negin.  My husband, Dan, met Negin at his job over 10 years ago. Since then, Negin and I have been friends. When she reached out to me to photograph her Oak Grove wedding at SaddleRock Ranch , I was honored and humbled. I love being a close part of my friend’s wedding days. When a friend or family member wants to share that part of their lives with me, I feel like I am trustworthy to hold such special moments in my hands.
Negin was such a wonderful bride! Through h er day, many things did not go as planned, especially the weather. The temperature skyrocketed to 110 degrees, right in the middle of her wedding day. It was very hot, but even still very beautiful. Luckily, the ceremony was right at sunset. The twinkling lights

WRITTEN AS FEATURED ON SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BRIDE // “Our bride wore a beautiful sleeveless wedding dress that was topped off by a floral head piece made of fresh flowers. Calligraphy signs were displayed matching the hand written menu cards placed on the tables. Unlike the traditional full floor length linens, and standard table runners, our tables were dressed with a simple silk table runner running through the middle allowing the tables’ natural beauty to be showcased with the plate setting. Fresh floral arrangements sat lined up on the silk runner while detailed plates were stacked and perfectly arranged side by side; tall white candle sticks lit the tables to emphasize that romantic feeling. To give it a pop of color, we had linen plum colored napkins cascading on the side of the table. Vineyard chairs was our cherry on top as it completed the look of our dinner tables.
