I absolutely love Maternity sessions. The anticipation of having a baby is amazing and I love encouraging moms through their anticipation. I also love the smiles on the faces of young children who are excited about the new baby.
In some ways, a maternity session is like an engagement session. Those fleeting moments during your pregnancy are sometimes hard to remember when you are in the middle of a newborn phase, but you will be so happy to look back at yourself preparing to become a new parent. When I look at my maternity pictures I see someone who had no idea who they were going to become, and I love the person I was then, and now.

I have an in-home studio with lots of cute items and backdrops to make your maternity dreams come true, or I can come to you. Often, maternity sessions can be held outdoors at one of the amazing natural wonders around the PDX area. There are several waterfalls and trails close by where I love to take dreamy and magical pictures.

Portland Newborn Photographer
The moments and days after your beautiful new child arrives can feel like a blur. There is so much going on that it is wonderful to be able to look back on that time and cherish the newborn stage with rested eyes. I love to take your Newborn pictures in the first ten days after they come home with you. They will never be so tiny and precious again, and I am so thankful to have experienced so many new faces learning about the world.
What Can You Expect in a Portland Newborn Session with Sun and Sparrow?
I want to know what you need during this precious time. Some new mamas want to bring their newborn to my comfortable and welcoming studio, while others want their newborn session in their own home for an intimate and personal experience. I am happy to work with you either way, and I have lots of newborn photography items that I can bring with me.
Every session includes a sound machine or white noise from my phone and I keep a small heater on hand just in case. Newborn babies can be fussy sometimes so I also bring tons of patience. There is nothing worse as a new parent than feeling rushed. I am professional however, and you can expect that I will not take any more of your time than we need to take beautiful, memorable photos for you and your family!
I bring baskets, baby wraps, blankets, floor drops, and styling items to your shoot to make it whimsical. I know how to wrap babies in a very cute and cuddly way, and I am flexible on timing since everything tends to be up in the air during the newborn stage. When people in the room are stressed, the baby can sense that, so I am focused on making sure everyone feels calm so the baby can have a good experience along with anyone who joins us.
Where Are We Located?
I am a Portland Maternity and newborn photographer and I also work in Southern California. I have a studio in Vancouver Washington, only ten minutes from Portland, Oregon. I Can travel all over the Pacific Northwest to Seattle, Salem, Newport, Ridgefield, Gresham, Camas, Beaverton, and more!
