The Couple: Cecilie & Andrew Lask
Cecilie and Andrew are some of my favorite clients that I’ve ever had. Cecilie has a passion for art and creativity. She is so beautiful and passionate. She was so kind in every interaction that I had with her, but she still knew exactly what she wanted. Andrew is tall and gentle with a striking personality. He has an eye for detail and sees the world around him so perfectly. It was wonderful to see them as a couple because they balanced each other in many different ways, always sensitive to the other’s needs.
Their greater community was so wonderful to be around because everyone was actively encouraging to everyone around them. Cecelie’s mom was especially encouraging to everyone, going out of her way to compliment and help in any way that she could, while Cecilie’s dad officiated with excellence and poise.
The Venue: Descanso Gardens
Descanso Gardens is a beautiful venue situated in Pasadena California. On the wedding day, it was at the peak of spring, and all of the blooms had just opened. There was a strong floral fragrance all around with pastel blooms everywhere. Amazingly, the flowers that had first bloomed matched perfectly with Cecilie’s wedding colors, which were powder blue, ivory, and lavender. Descanso Gardens really is the perfect place to have a luxurious lavender Garden wedding!
The Wedding Day
Cecilie & Andrew’s wedding day was Luxurious and wonderful. Cecilie got ready at the Langham Hotel, which is incredibly elegant. The building has long, tiled hallways with floor-to-ceiling drapery, intricate furniture, and gold-laced mirrors. After the Valet took my car I walked into her room which was filled to the brim with joy and positivity. I immediately got to work taking pictures of all of her details, while making sure to take in every beautiful moment of this perfect day.
A few details really stand out to me. Cecilie’s shoes were by Badgley Mischka, and her invitations, were by Betty Lu Paperie. The invitations were intricately designed with a custom crest for the bride and groom and letterpressed with gold foiling. To top it off, there was a custom envelope insert to give it a splash of garden romance.
Cecilie and Andrew had a dreamy first look. The bride was so joyful around the flower girl and ring bearer, which were her niece and nephew. It was wonderful to watch her interact with the children. After the first look, they went on to have a really special ceremony with Cecilie’s father as the officiant. He is a pastor, so he was an incredible officiant. The look in his eyes as he officiated his daughter’s wedding was something that I will never forget.
After the ceremony, we went to take romantic portraits in the oak forest. The light came through the trees at an angle, gracing the ground with golden patches and covering the bride and groom with warmth. Finally, they attended their intimate reception where a small group of family and friends celebrated with them. It was truly a spectacular day.

“Sun and Sparrow did a wonderful, beyond gorgeous, and fabulous job at being my wedding photographer. Ellie was about to capture the essence of my day, the beauty of the garden that we were married in, and the heartfelt emotions. I was so excited when I found out that they could shoot for my wedding. Ellie, the lead photographer worked with me from day one at figuring out my timeline and what type of photos I wanted and where. She had a very in depth phone conversation with me where we went over all the details and made me feel super secure and excited for the day. She was extremely organized and walked me through all the types of photos we could do and helped me choose what would be best for my day.
When Ellie showed up on my wedding day with her associate she had such an amazing calmness and peace that she brought to the room. Both her and her second photographer led the way and made my getting ready process with my bridal party so fun and special. They both were able to capture the special moments with me and my bridal party that you can see in the photographs so clearly. Looking for a photographer is not just about “what will the photos look like in the end”, I was looking for someone who would be able to guide me and my husband and help us pose formally, candidly, and romantically.
I wanted some formal photos, but also wanted soft loose moments with me and my husband and Ellie captured all these moments. Ellie is excellent with directions, ideas, and encouragement. Ellie wears many hats on the day of and does each job with precision, love, and creativity. She even helped me bustle my dress! She is so sweet! I knew when I chose Ellie that I would have nothing to worry about on the day of.
She found the best locations at our venue to shoot, she encouraged me and my husband when we got a little tired, and she truly captured our wedding in most magical, fairytale, dream way imaginable. When I received my photos from Ellie I was blown away. I knew they were going to be beautiful, but her work surpasses that. Our wedding photos came out so gorgeous and captured all the incredible beauty of the garden and all the loving moments between me and my husband! Thank you so much Sun and Sparrow!!
