FROM THE BRIDE // I, like most little girls, dreamt of my future wedding well before it came to life! Thinking back about the day still makes me tear up. I did not sleep much the night before the wedding so many emotions ran through my head. My day started early with my bridesmaids running into my room and maid of honor shaking me awake yelling “You’re getting married time to get up!”. From the moment I woke up we began checking things off the timeline. Hair- check, makeup-check, photos-check, dress on-check. While everything moved around me I remember feeling this inner peace and silence like someone was telling me everything would be perfect. All of the emotions that kept me up the night before were silenced. Things just felt right. The rain that had been pouring down all night and most of the morning finally came to an end, and it was time to put my dress on. My mom helped me get into my dress and put on all of my details before I revealed it to my girls and closest family. Just before getting into the limo to go to the venue my dad (who had not seen my dress before) came for his reveal. Being a “daddy’s girl”, I knew I would cry the whole way down the aisle if I did not do this father daughter moment early enough in the day! A limo ride and some photos later it was time to walk down the aisle. Butterflies filled my stomach, and on came my song. My brother walked our dogs Sadie-Rae and Scout down first, and then my father escorted me down the aisle, handed me off to Joey and our ceremony began. I remember seeing him for the first time, waiting at the end of the aisle. Its a difficult emotion to describe seeing your forever waiting for you. Holding Joeys hands and looking into his eyes, committing to spend the rest of my life with him was one of the happiest moments in my life. When it came time to exchange rings, my maid of honor had to quickly run back to the bridal suite to get Joeys ring that had been left behind. Joey and I both laughed (and our guests too) and took this time to look out into the seats and see everyone who came to support us on our special day. We finished the ceremony, had our first kiss as Mr. and Mrs. and for the first time we were announced as husband and wife! Joey and I decided it was more intimate to do communion the first time as husband and wife with just our pastor right after the ceremony. It gave us time to let everything set in and a moment of silence to thank God for all that He has given us. The party began not long after an amazing dinner with speeches, dancing, dessert bars, photo booth fun and a late night espresso bar. Several dances, photos, and laughs later the last dance was called, and the night came to an end. Before my wedding I was given great advice from my sister-in-law to just enjoy and take in every moment (anticipated or not), because it is over in a blink. I love being a wife and, looking back, would not have changed a thing about our wedding! I am so appreciative to everyone who helped our fairytale wedding play out.
What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?
Walking down the aisle and seeing Joey for the first time. We both felt strongly that we wanted the first time seeing each other to be when I walked down the aisle. And Joey’s only request was that the aisle be long enough for him to take the moment in.
What inspired you while planning your wedding & decor?
I wanted simple timeless elements, lace, pearls, roses, and diamonds combined with the natural rustic elements in the venue.
Do you have any advice for brides who are currently planning their weddings?
It is easy to get caught up in the details; don’t lose sight of why you are having a wedding. The most important part is you are marrying the man (or woman) of your dreams. The rest will fall into place.
