On June 16, 2017, Tommy executed the best surprise EVER! It was the last day of school and I was preparing myself to say goodbye to my first year teaching. Right after school, I was ready to clean up and head out for summer. My teaching partner and our aide convinced me to sit down and relax for a few minutes. We were talking about the year and our plans for summer, when in walks Tommy. I was shocked! Everyone quickly left the room and Tommy handed me a present. Silly me thinking it might just be an end-of-the-year gift.
As I sat there opening my present, Tommy began getting more and more nervous. Inside the gift bag was the book, The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. He asked me to read the book; I read as quickly as I could and finally got to the last page. There was the sweetest, hand-written note from Tommy. “This is it!” I thought to myself.
I put down the book and Tommy said some more sweet words. Then, it happened. He got down on one knee, asked me to be his forever, and through the tears I found the word, “YES!”.
As we get closer to our wedding, we are so excited for everything that is to come. We are so excited to starting this new journey as husband and wife, and feel grateful to experience this special time with our friends and family.
