The Couple: Kirsten & Michael

Kirsten and Michael are a very very bubbly couple. They may even be the most energetic couple that I’ve worked with. It’s not even that they know how to have fun, they really just have fun. They are energetic, silly, vibrant, willing, and they bring their people with them, creating a wonderful energy in any space they’re in. I really felt like I was having the best day ever whenever I was hanging out with them.
Kirsten, despite her bold personality, is an introvert. She values her quiet moments. She is definitely high energy, but she takes time to slow down and enjoy her own space. She knows how to bring people together and build energy and connection. Fully herself wherever she goes, Kirsten allows herself to live in her vibrant and colorful personality.
Michael is on the quiet side, but he’s not quiet. While he gives Kirsten space to shine, he is definitely not afraid to take up space. His silliness compliments her silliness and the way he shows his love for her is really sweet. The way he looks at her is so confident and gentle, like he sees all good things for her.
The Venue: Palos Verdes Beach and Athletic Club

The Palos Verdes Beach and athletic club is nestled into a cliffside just below Roesler Point Gazebo, with views of the Santa Monica mountains and city lights of El Segundo. The pool sits right at the edge of the venue, and gives the feeling of being immersed in a vacation far away. The venue was built in 1930 and has classic Palos verdes Spanish architecture with French windows and Spanish tiles.
It’s a beautiful and large space that hosts weddings and other magical events. This wedding was particularly magical because they used the space to its fullest potential.
Just next to the venue is access to the tide pools, where we took gorgeous wedding photos. You can see the sunset right there, from the bluff. It is the perfect place to have a magical wedding.
The Wedding Day

This was a vibrant day full of spirit. Kristen and Michael both got ready at Sonesta in Redondo Beach, which is a beautiful boutique hotel just across from Redondo Beach Pier. After they got ready, they walked to the pier to take bridal party, family and romantic pictures. It was so fun! They really seemed like they didn’t have a care in the world. I could tell that they were fully immersed in getting married and being with their people.
From there we went to the cliff above the venue to take some more couple’s portraits. We used the dramatic view over the ocean and I was just in awe of how beautiful it was. Then the bride and groom grabbed some pre-ceremony drinks with their friends while I reflected on how wonderful it was to be their Palos Verdes wedding photographer.
The ceremony itself was right at sunset and it was so beautiful watching the sky light up as they said their vows. Everybody was so full of vibrant joy and shared the happiest tears. The bride was beaming and full of celebration. They nearly ran down the aisle at the end of the ceremony, so excited to be married and present in such a beautiful moment.
After the ceremony, the reception was full of the same energy and spunk, with all of the jokes, silliness and laughter. I was so thankful to be their photographer, and I’m excited to see where this beautiful couple’s life goes next!
