1. Describe your how you felt on your wedding morning, all the anticipation and the love. What were you most looking forward to in the beginning of your day.
Robin: I was a bit nervous, cold, stuck in traffic and a bit late. I had anxiety about my tie because I still didn’t know how to tie a tie. I didn’t know how to deal with the pocket square. I had never worn cuff links. This was one of the few times I had ever worn a suit. I felt uncomfortable and then finally when I saw my beautiful bride, Jen, I knew everything was going to be okay.
Jen: I was crossing my fingers for the rain to stop but also nervous about my vows. However, the time passed by so quickly, I hardly had time to think about anything. I think I just wanted everything to start and be able to see everyone we loved in one room. I was ready to see Robin.
2. Did you have a ‘first look’ or a ‘walk down the aisle’ moment? How did you feel when you saw your significant other for the first time?
Robin: I thought that’s the most beautiful bride here tonight by far…
Jen: When I saw Robin, I thought to myself, “Finally”. Even though we had just been apart for a few hours, it was comforting to be with him on our wedding day. Seeing him put me at ease and made me feel ready to start the day.
3. What was your favorite moment/story from your wedding day?
Jen: My favorite moment was when our flower girl, Sienna, refused to walk down the aisle. I loved how her dad improvised and threw the flowers for her. Having everyone laugh brings a smile to my face. I also loved hearing Robin’s vows- his writing was so beautiful and touching. I was in awe of his writing skills, although not surprised! It was nice to reminisce about the beginning of our story and the adventures we have been through.
Robin: My favorite moment was standing at the end of the aisle and hearing Blackbird by the Beatles (instrumental) start playing and then I saw Jen walking down the aisle. It was like my 2 favorite things happening all at once in front of all my beloved family and friends. It’s as if my whole life was “waiting for this moment”- just like in the song, and then the most important moment in my life occurred.
4. How did your day most feel like a fairytale?
Jen: Hearing all the speeches and realising how much effort and thought my dad and our siblings put into each speech was so heart-warming. I don’t think people often express how they feel to one another but on that day, we were able to share our feelings so candidly and loving with one another. It is so beautiful to see everyone come together with so much joy.
Robin: The day felt like a fairytale because all of the people from different times in my life, came together for the first time, and celebrated this significant moment in our life. There is something special in the joining of two families and two lives.
Cocktail hour, its one of those big questions that brides and grooms have to ask themselves while planning their big timeline. Is it something they are willing to sacrifice for more romantic portraits, or are they willing to sacrifice more couples portraits so that they can spend more time with their family and friends? ... The best answer is when they can have BOTH! But how?
The first look is where it`s at. have a first look on your day, and you can open up so many opportunities to enjoy your day. It`s one of my most highly recommended events on a wedding day and completely shapes the day to create so many opportunities.
if you have any questions, I am here for you. Send me a DM, or feel free to send an email. I would love to chat about it with you! I want everyone to have the best day possible.
Went out looking for the most fairytale location I could find... Did I find it? I will let you decide.
I was at a BVD appt when I met the receptionist there. Helen was the sweetest, most fun, and most personable receptionist who made me feel so comfortable and joyful to be at one of the most benign places... the eye doctor. She made the place fun and festive... so when she mentioned she was engaged, I had to throw my work at her. She immediately felt connected to Sun and Sparrow as much as I felt connected to her, and it was a match made in.... wonderland!
This girl is a fairytale dream... and this might be my most fairytale session yet.
When C&D told me that their venue had a catastrophe and they had to completely change their plans, we all stood stunned.
But not too long after they shared the news, they had a new plan. The wedding downsized and took to the road to Cannon Beach, the place where they took their engagement pictures (remember them from last year?!) And the place where they have made so many memories.
First stop was two beach houses, then to Hug Point. Next, we hit the iconic Cannon Beach with haystack rock in the distance, followed by a relaxed park reception. And to top it off, they ended at Capricorn Pub, a place where they could fully unleash and be their fullest selves with karaoke, pool, and games with their closest people.
Though it wasn`t the day they originally planned, it turned out to be completely stunning... and as C&D said, "maybe it wasn`t the plan, but maybe it was meant to be this way all along."
The way they managed to shift, to ride with the twists and turns, and to enjoy each moment fully... they truly took my breath away. AND I have to say, seeing them around their entourage, their hype crew, it made complete sense to me how they found the truest form of joy all day. This group of people amazed me at every stop and showed up for every moment.
It was the biggest honor to photograph this wedding and see something so unique and so full of life. I will never forget this day.
