The wedding date itself was a big inspiration for the decor. Initially, we hadn’t planned or had in mind a particular day for the wedding but knew it would be about a year since the day we got engaged. With that said, Halloween happened. Everything seemed to land on that day and turned out being the best option for us. The day has always been one of our favorites and so we went with it. Another inspiration for the day came from our trip to New Orleans and the place where we got engaged. There is so much history there and was quite the model for a unique setting. We knew that drawing creativity from there could give us just enough of the “strange” we were looking for to incorporate in the wedding. Not to mention the most beautiful French/ Spanish inspired architecture and vibes that peak through every corner of the French Quarter. We pictured a lot of green, a touch of color, and an overall organic/ rustic feel for the day.
It sounds cliche but its true, when it comes to favorite moments of the day there are just so many. For the sake of painting you a little picture, I’ve got one though that stays at the forefront of my mind. At Los Verdes there’s a bit of a walk you have to make before you hit the actual ceremony aisle. It’s on a slope so when you’re walking down you get the most amazing view of not only the ocean but the ceremony site, the guests and your soon-to-be partner in life. It was incredible. To see the faces of our family and friends there to support us was the most amazing thing. And to put it shortly, it just gave me all the feels.
Sun & Sparrow was an absolute must for us. There was no doubt that we wanted to have them be apart of the day and capture all the special details. I had worked with them before and they truly have such a unique way in how they go about catching just the right moments. It shows in everything they do. Their work goes beyond just taking a picture. Each photo becomes like a piece of art and its about grabbing a hold of a single second and having it last a lifetime. For us, that’s the greatest gift and invaluable because years from now we can look at the pictures and relive the day all over again in its entirety. Lucky enough, I call Tiffani and Ellie family and I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know them more throughout this process. We’re so grateful in how it all worked out in that they could photograph one of the most important days of our life.
Our advice for couples currently planning for their wedding, take in as much as you can. Don’t get too caught up in having everything be perfect, appreciate the imperfect details. Have an email account just for the wedding. It really was so helpful. Google drive will be your best friend. On the day, remember to breath and take mental pictures of everything!! Thankfully, you’ll have photos too to drool over after everything is said and done. Dance like there’s no tomorrow, don’t forget to eat and drink (make sure you get some water in you) and enjoy it all!
As for married life, it’s great. We had a wonderful honeymoon and we’re looking forward to a cozy holiday with the family, our first as husband and wife. My favorite part about it all, we’re team Garcia now! It’s official!”
