WRITTEN AS FEATURED ON SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BRIDE // “Our bride wore a beautiful sleeveless wedding dress that was topped off by a floral head piece made of fresh flowers. Calligraphy signs were displayed matching the hand written menu cards placed on the tables. Unlike the traditional full floor length linens, and standard table runners, our tables were dressed with a simple silk table runner running through the middle allowing the tables’ natural beauty to be showcased with the plate setting. Fresh floral arrangements sat lined up on the silk runner while detailed plates were stacked and perfectly arranged side by side; tall white candle sticks lit the tables to emphasize that romantic feeling. To give it a pop of color, we had linen plum colored napkins cascading on the side of the table. Vineyard chairs was our cherry on top as it completed the look of our dinner tables.

FROM THE BRIDE // Quan and I first met 5800 miles away from home in South Korea. We were both there for a summer study abroad program that lasted 8 weeks. Funny enough, it wasn’t until the last week of the program when we finally started hanging out. That was 6 years ago and we’ve been inseparable since.

One day, Quan sent me an email at work and told me to solve the riddle within. I didn’t think anything of it as he is really into mind games. After failing to resolve the riddle, I gave up without much thought. Fast forward to a week later and Quan wanted to cook us dinner after work. I got off of work two hours earlier than anticipated and he was just getting home with a bags of groceries as I was pulling up the driveway. He whipped up dinner and after a great meal, he pulled the box out of his pocket and asked me to marry him. I’ve never him so shy and nervous in our entire relationship! I said “YES, of course!” and here we are today. It wasn’t until a few weeks later when he confessed that the riddle was his first attempt!

Steven & Rachel // Romantic Garden wedding at the Santa Barbara Mission

FROM THE BRIDE // Our wedding day was the best day of my life (aside from my daughter’s birth :))   We had SO much fun and enjoyed having all our friends and family in the same place.  We wish it didn’t go by so fast!  There is a lot of the day that seems like a blur which made us regret not doing a videographer in retrospect.   I had a lot of stress planning it along the way (with kids and a fulltime job) so to have it turn out as perfect as it did made me so happy and relieved!! I truly believe having all the right people and vendors in place is what made the day go smoothly and perfectly.

My favorite moments from the day are the ones I will cherish forever… One was seeing Stephen for the first time at our first look pictures and the other was looking into his eyes saying our vows.

Photography was especially important to me because I knew we could not afford a videographer. Our photos would be the only way we could save and revisit our wedding day so I knew I needed to make sure I picked a great photographer. I found Sun & Sparrow on the knot website and loved the all of their picture galleries. I had looked at many photography websites but this one spoke to me and I liked the style of the pictures.

Please list all the awesome vendors & fashion vendors, including jewelry shoes, men’s attire ect….. involved in your wedding so we can give them a nice shout-out! (with links to their websites if possible) I used Unveiled Makeup & Hair for me and my bridesmaid makeup. They did a GREAT job and we loved our makeup artist.

Jason & Merry // Castle Green wedding photographer

Our wedding day went by very fast, but we both definitely felt the love from not only one another, but everyone who shared our day with us! Even though we were both nervous to have the spot light and focus on us (silly bc it was our wedding day), it was very special to share our big day with all of our loved ones.

WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE/FAVORITE PART ABOUT YOUR WEDDING DAY?  // The ceremony when we officially became husband and wife. It was extra special since Merry’s older brother Arthur officiated the wedding.

WHY WAS PHOTOGRAPHY IMPORTANT TO YOU? //  Photography was important to us because it captured the raw and memorable moments of the day, which we will be able to relive and cherish for years to come! We chose Sun & Sparrow because we loved their positivity, charisma, and professionalism. Tiffani & Ellie made us feel so comfortable when taking our photos and also showed they really cared to capture the best moments for our photos.

DID YOU DO ANY DIY PROJECTS? // With help of friends, cake topper, printed guest name cards, table numbers.

WHAT WAS YOUR SOMETHING OLD //  (Hair piece given as previous bridesmaid gift), NEW //  (diamond earrings and necklace from Jason’s parents), BORROWED // (ring pillow), BLUE  // (bow on garter belt)

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR BRIDES WHO ARE CURRENTLY IN THE PLANNING PROCESS? //  My best advice is to prioritize what’s important to you and your future spouse, compromise, and try not to sweat the little stuff! Then, enjoy! Because at the end of the day, the most important part of getting married is having a partner for life!

Daniel & Sherry // Los Angeles Engagement Photographer

©2014 Sun & Sparrow Photography // Los Angeles Engagement Photographer

OUR PROPOSAL STORY  //  Daniel & I had been dating for a while. We had gone through years of family holidays, birthdays, anniversaries together. All in fun & in love. On Christmas Eve/Day 2012, Daniel presented me with a bike as a present. Hidden on the bike was a red book titled “100 More Things I Love About Sherry.” This little treasure was a sequel to an original “100 things I love about Sherry,” when we were first dating. I decided I would wait until all the hustle and bustle of opening gifts was over to read the details. Once all the Christmas gifts were opened and family members were either cleaning up  the kitchen, watching tv, or taking a dookie in the toilet, I decided to plop on the couch and finally read my book. In the meantime, Daniel was secretly watching me read his “opus.” But since all the family was still over, my niece, Elizabeth, kept distracting him by  turning on and off the lights (she was playing with her new light toy). Daniel doesn’t easily get angry, and I wondered why he was so sensitive, but I brushed it off and  I just kept on reading. Each page described his love for me in a deeper way. I began to tear up because I knew how far he had fallen from that first book he wrote so many years ago. When I flipped to the final page, it read “She is going to marry me, right?” At that moment, I looked at Daniel and he was on one knee with a beautiful ring. He made a beautiful speech of his love an affection for me, but I was way too nervous to pay attention. After he got up, I jumped to hug him and gave him a PG13 kiss (because family was around), and then my mom asked… “what’s happening?!”

          It was the perfect proposal.
OUR ENGAGEMENT PICTURE STORY  //  Daniel and I wanted an engagement session that reflected our love for Downtown LA and good cocktails. We often times go on random dates to Las Perlas, Cole’s, and Varnish to quell our thirst and thought that these venues would be an awesome backdrop for our photo session. Keeping in mind the Speakeasy theme for our wedding, we decided to extend the idea to convey that “Love is Timeless.” Whether it was having some “prohibition” cocktails in the 1920’s, sharing a root beer float in the 1950’s, or shooting some tequila/mezcal shots in present day, Daniel and I had a blast on our dates, falling in love in each era.  Los Angeles Engagement Photography
