FROM THE BRIDE //  Our wedding day can be described in only one word: magical. I remember feeling stressed the entire week over the possibility of rain, but when I woke up that morning I felt surprisingly calm.  The day went by seamlessly with the sun shining! Getting ready with the girls before the wedding was so much fun. We listened to music and danced up a storm (especially my mother). I surprisingly was hungry and able to eat a lot! Once Sun & Sparrow arrived however, things started to feel very real. I am normally the one in control at all times (disclaimer: I was a bridezilla) and the day of I let the reigns go because Ellie was able to execute my itinerary flawlessly. She got everyone moving and shaking! Before the ceremony, Chris and I had our first look which was very beautiful and private. We continued taking pictures with our family and friends at the beautiful Calamigos Ranch Oak Room and I was absolutely blown away by the enchanting arch that Petals & Linens executed. I was speechless at our floral arrangements! We hired a jazz band for the ceremony and cocktail hour which all of our guests really enjoyed under the gorgeous chandeliers of the outdoors area. After walking down the aisle, the party flew by. Dancing was one of my favorite parts, especially when my new husband decided to do the running man on the floor! It was a beautiful party to celebrate the beginning of a lifelong relationship and I couldn’t be more thankful for our supportive families and of course our amazing vendors!
One special moment that sticks out the most to me is the first look with my Dad. It was the only time I felt really emotional. I saw his eyes get watery and it just broke me. Also, his father of the bride speech was very genuine and from the heart. It was very special for my family.
If I could give one piece of advice to couples currently in the planning stages is to have a first look. The day goes by so fast and it was nice to have the pictures all taken care of prior to the ceremony. Plus your hair and makeup is perfect still. Also, do not download three different weather apps and stare at them all day long leading up to the wedding. It is what it is!
What inspired you while planning your wedding & decor? Was there any special element that made your decor come together for you, personally?
I have always loved the movie The Secret Garden since I was a little girl. I was very inspired by that movie and wanted to recreate it with a bright colored floral arch that looked like it grew from the ground and the waterfall backdrop.

FROM THE BRIDE //

The morning of the wedding was the first time in a while I felt so relaxed because everything was out of my hands. I really got to enjoy the morning getting ready with my mother, mother in law and sister in law. It was so nice to chat before the hectic craziness of the day took over. Once Tiffani got there and the videographer Russell everything went full speed ahead and the day just went so fast! It was just so lovely to see all of our family from across the nation and the globe come together to celebrate us, it really was just so special. Everything came together perfectly and all the planning was so worth it in the end. The best compliments we had about our wedding was how fun it all was and that just meant the world to us because that was what he had planned from the start. From our personal vows, hilarious speeches from friends and family, to the live band karaoke allowing everyone to sing their hearts out—the entire night was so full of belly laughs, wide smiles, and carefree dancing. We wanted to make our wedding not just beautiful but personal, unique, fun and memorable and I think we really did achieve that!

What was your favorite moment from your wedding day? Did you have any special moments/story with friends or family that stand out to you?

It really is true that the whole day goes by so quickly, but luckily I made it a point with Garrett to remind ourselves to take it all in and remember special moments. My favorite moment from my wedding day was entering the reception after we had just walked down the aisle after being pronounced husband and wife. We had not been alone yet the entire day and were alone for just a couple of seconds while everyone was cheering outside as the ceremony ended. I had never seen my (now) husband so happy in our entire years together; I will remember that moment forever. His favorite moment was seeing everyone dance and sing on the dance floor. Everyone really let loose! We cannot wait to see all the pictures to relive our amazing day!

What inspired you while planning your wedding ?

I had spent many months making our own décor—my mom told me that our wedding was going to be my little art exhibit. My husband and his family is from Connecticut and my family is from California so I made string art to welcome our families to our wedding. (I guess someone loved these so much because they have not been seen since after the wedding!). From the table numbers, sewing the sweetheart table linen, all the sign in table décor, our dog’s collar wreath, toss petals, metal geometric table décor with air plants—it was all a labor of love. Garrett made the seating chart and my family pitched in making all of the succulent wedding favors. Our décor reflected our own modern rustic style and mirrored the beautiful greenery of our venue. It was important to me to decorate our wedding with things we would love in our own home, which made our wedding feel not too formal but very casual and inviting.

Do you have any advice for brides/grooms who are currently planning their weddings?

I recommend ranking vendors by importance to you and your fiancé and let that dictate how much you spend. Maybe the venue isn’t that important but the food is, or maybe the dress is lower on the ranking but the band is number one. For us, the atmosphere of the venue and décor was really important to me. The band and entertainment was most important to my husband. Weddings really are a money pit but I don’t regret choosing vendors that really matched my vision. The best advice I got was – no one is going to remember the color of the chair they were sitting on or if you had a napkin ring- they will however remember the overall feel of the wedding, the entertainment and the food. Don’t lose the bigger picture- the coming together of people to celebrate your love. That is what will be remembered in the end for you and your guests. Also- thinking out of the box pays off. We had a very nontraditional wedding- short ceremony, our friend was the Officiant, we had no bridesmaids or groomsmen, and we had live band karaoke so our guests could partake in the entertainment. This really made our wedding very personal and special for us.
