Our wedding day went by very fast, but we both definitely felt the love from not only one another, but everyone who shared our day with us! Even though we were both nervous to have the spot light and focus on us (silly bc it was our wedding day), it was very special to share our big day with all of our loved ones.

WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE/FAVORITE PART ABOUT YOUR WEDDING DAY? // The ceremony when we officially became husband and wife. It was extra special since Merry’s older brother Arthur officiated the wedding.

WHY WAS PHOTOGRAPHY IMPORTANT TO YOU? // Photography was important to us because it captured the raw and memorable moments of the day, which we will be able to relive and cherish for years to come! We chose Sun & Sparrow because we loved their positivity, charisma, and professionalism. Tiffani & Ellie made us feel so comfortable when taking our photos and also showed they really cared to capture the best moments for our photos.

DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR BRIDES WHO ARE CURRENTLY IN THE PLANNING PROCESS? // My best advice is to prioritize what’s important to you and your future spouse, compromise, and try not to sweat the little stuff! Then, enjoy! Because at the end of the day, the most important part of getting married is having a partner for life!

WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND YOUR WEDDING?

We’ve been living in Downtown Los Angeles for over 4 years. We’ve had front row seats to the “Downtown Renaissance” and absolutely love living in the middle of so much change. There’s excitement in the air. We really wanted to show our friends and family what we get to experience on a day-to-day basis. Downtown naturally has this old-school glamorous feel. As soon as we walked into Cicada, just a few blocks from our loft, we knew it was the place. Everything else just flowed with that 1920s glamorous vibe.

WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE/FAVORITE PART ABOUT YOUR WEDDING DAY?

Hers: David’s reaction during the first look. It was priceless. My second favorite was dancing with my grandfather to an old mariachi song “Mi Niña Bonita“. My grandmother passed away recently and was a huge mariachi fan. It was a very special moment.

DID YOU DO ANY DIY PROJECTS? IF SO, WHAT?

We did a few DIY projects and my best advice is to start early. You definitely don’t want to be doing any DIY in the weeks leading up to the wedding. For our guest gifts/table decorations we bought little 2×3 frames and filled them with pictures of the two of us and the people sitting at the table. It was our way to make them feel special. We chose the “Up” score to process to, so we also made the iconic mailbox from the movie with “David & Dulce” painted on the side of it with our handprints.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF BEING MARRIED NOW?

There’s a certain gravitas that comes with marriage. We’re both enjoying that feeling.
