how she did itFROM THE GROOM // We were so fortunate to have a full weekend of wedding celebrations with our friends and family starting on Thursday night. The days leading up to our wedding set such a fun and loving tone for our actual wedding day. By the time it was the morning of our wedding, I woke up more than ready to marry my best friend and the love of my life. Though no one could have actually prepared me for how fast the day flew by, I will always remember how many emotions I felt in such a short amount of time. I felt everything from joy to anxiousness and happiness to complete elation. After a night of sharing the dance floor with our closest friends and family, we drove away saying to each other that there couldn’t have been a better way to celebrate this new chapter in our life.

From the bride: When we were planning our wedding, we were told early on that it is so much more fun if you celebrate each milestone and major decision with champagne. This idea of “champagne celebrations” carried over into our wedding decor — we wanted the whole day to feel like the feelings you have when you pop champagne or throw confetti! We set the tone for our day and our guests by using champagne in our engagement pictures and Save the Dates. For our wedding day decor, we searched for the perfect gold accent pieces to bring the feelings of champagne, glitz and fun.. and we let the rustic elegance of our venue add the rest. It was the perfect blend of our two personalities and all of the elements together created the exact ambience we wanted for all of our guests.

From the groom: I have a hard time deciding between our first look and when we recited our vows to each other. During our first look, it was a moment when I felt like we were the only two people in the world. I was standing on the sidewalk waiting for Laura to come and grab my hand. I was nervous and excited, and as soon as I felt her hand slip into mine, I knew everything was perfect and we were going to have a perfect day. Our vows were such honest expressions of our hopes, dreams, commitment and love for each other. On our wedding day, there is nothing more important than our expression of love to each other.

From the bride: I loved our first look too!! I think it was the most emotional part of the day for me, and I am so happy it was a moment just for the two of us to experience together. So much of a wedding is in front of other people, so it was even more special to have this one moment alone together before everything really started. I remember walking towards Chad and thinking to myself, “holy cow! This is the man you’re going to marry! TODAY!” It was such an honest mix of giddiness, nerves, excitement and immense love. I’ll never forget it.

Dancing with my dad was a highlight, too. I never thought my football-playing, business-man Dad would request that we choreograph a dance to Gloria Estefan… but it was a blast and such a fantastic surprise for our guests!

From the bride: Honestly, like Chad said, we knew the day was going to fly by and that there would be so much going on that it would be hard to remember every detail and be present in every single moment. Finding the right photography and videography team became imperative because we knew we would relive our day and our memories through the images they captured. We were drawn to Sun & Sparrow because of the gorgeous, natural pictures they take. But we knew they were the perfect team for us as soon as we met them. Having Sun & Sparrow at our wedding was such a blessing – they were warm, patient, respectful and creative. We are so eternally grateful for their commitment to telling our love story through such beautiful photos.

From the bride: Celebrate every milestone and decision! Set aside nights that don’t involve wedding planning and focus on your relationship and the reasons why you have chosen to get married. Listen to YOUR heart. There are a million people out there with opinions about weddings – but what YOU envision for your day is most important!

From the groom: Getting to call my best friend my wife. Calling Laura my wife holds more meaning than just saying I am married to her. It means being a partner, being patient, being a provider and being committed to her through thick and thin. Simply calling her my wife reminds me that I am blessed to go through the rest of my life with her.

From the bride: Knowing that no matter what we go through in life, we will go through it together is such a peaceful feeling. Trusting our commitment to each other and knowing that we will always be a team is the absolute best feeling in the world!
