Romantic Wedding inspiration at Bixby Knolls Manor

WRITTEN AS FEATURED ON SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA BRIDE // “Our bride wore a beautiful sleeveless wedding dress that was topped off by a floral head piece made of fresh flowers. Calligraphy signs were displayed matching the hand written menu cards placed on the tables. Unlike the traditional full floor length linens, and standard table runners, our tables were dressed with a simple silk table runner running through the middle allowing the tables’ natural beauty to be showcased with the plate setting. Fresh floral arrangements sat lined up on the silk runner while detailed plates were stacked and perfectly arranged side by side; tall white candle sticks lit the tables to emphasize that romantic feeling. To give it a pop of color, we had linen plum colored napkins cascading on the side of the table. Vineyard chairs was our cherry on top as it completed the look of our dinner tables.

What wedding would not have sweet treats? Not ours! We included a mini dessert table that showcased delicious cake pops, cake shots, hand-designed cookies, and a wedding cake. A fresh garland wrapped around the setting really helped emphasize the natural feel we wanted to incorporate in the look.

This exclusive historic mansion in Bixby Knolls of Long Beach was the perfect location to have our mock up of a timeless romance style wedding. With it’s historic features inside and out, the property gave a unique vintage feel which fit perfectly for the theme. Our color palette was based off the setting of the property: nudes, blush, green, and a pop of plum color. I wanted to create a look that would never go out of style but at the same time, incorporate small trends that are happening now.” -Dean Bernard Events

amazingTravis and Stephanie met in the college dorms at the University of Chicago. Their chemistry was undeniable from the first time they met; however, dating Stephanie would violate Travis’ #1 rule as a college senior – NO DATING FRESHMAN. After months of flirting, Travis finally decided to break his own rules and they started dating in April 2007. Two months later, Travis graduated and moved to St. Louis for graduate school while Stephanie finished her degree in Chicago. They continued to date long-distance for 7 years as they pursued their careers in different states. Travis traveled back and forth between St. Louis and Chicago almost every weekend. In 2014, Travis followed Stephanie to LA so they could finally live together and get married. Their August 2014 Chicago wedding was an absolute dream, but tragically the photos didn’t turn out. The devastation of the photography nightmare was quickly cast aside as they got pregnant with their first child. Now, nearly two years after the wedding, they finally have wedding photos that reflect the true magic and romance of their wedding day!

FROM THE BRIDE //  We are college sweethearts! Aurielle and Ryan were both born and raised in Los Angeles, CA. Even though they attended similar High Schools and had many mutual friends, the two did not cross paths until college. They met in 2008 at California State University, Northridge during their junior year. Unbeknownst to each other, the next semester both Aurielle and Ryan joined their respective Greek Organizations.  In the Spring of 2009 Aurielle became a member of Sigma Gamma Rho, Sorority Inc & Ryan joined Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. At the time, both served as president of their campus’ chapter, allowing them to collaborate on various events and community service together. Their love has blossomed ever since. Six years later they are still in total awe of each other. The two explain that their relationship with God and love for each other have been the foundation of their happiness.  Currently, Ryan works as a Program Coordinator for Cal State University, Northridge and is working towards his Masters degree in Education. Aurielle is currently working on her doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Both are expected to earn their respective degrees in the Spring  of 2015.

What makes your love special? //  We put Christ first and at the center of our relationship, as we began to pray together it became clear God’s purpose for our relationship. Also, WE are best friends! It’s true that time flies when you are having a good time. Under all of this fluff are two joyous kids at heart and we are sure to never take ourselves too seriously.

OUR ENGAGEMENT STORY // Ryan proposed on Easter Sunday, March 31st 2013.  We were hosting our first “official” Easter Dinner and planned for our families to come visit. Ryan mentioned that he wanted to save time after dinner for a toast to thank everyone for attending. The toast took an unexpected turn when Ryan instead got down on one knee and proposed in front of all our family and friends. Everyone screamed, cried, screamed, and cried some more. It was perfect, and at the moment our lives changed forever!

As a college frat boy I never thought I would get married. ON june 29th 2014 I said I do, with no resentment nor doubt. I watched my beautiful wife walk toward me and commit her life to me as I vowed to do the same. How did I feel on my wedding day you ask? Truly blessed and highly favored!

What was your favorite moment at your wedding? // Bride-Walking down the aisle and seeing Ryan! At that moment I saw nothing else around me. I could not hear the music, nor see our guests. I was so happy and just in awe that it was truly happening!  Groom– The ride from the ceremony to our reception. It was just the two of us. Reality truly sunk in, and at that moment everything was perfect.

Advice for a Bride/Groom on their wedding day  //  Take it ALL in. Slow down, and pay close attention to every detail so that you remember it forever, including each other! Something is going to go wrong, or get left behind. Accept it today, and laugh about it tomorrow.
