Coco Palm Wedding 0032

While we worked on our wedding decoration part, I’d say it was fun and very exciting for the most part as (the bride) I have a deep passion for decorating and love all types of flowers, I’m pretty crafty and creative when decorating in my personal life, I just love it with a passion. I was inspired by various artists and the many talented and amazing work I’d see online and on blogs, Alexandra Garza was one, which has her own You Tube channel, she inspired my wedding since the beginning with many of her great ideas and advice.

We believe the entire wedding day was extremely memorable to the both of us, but if we’d have to pick one or two of the most memorable moments it would be the entrance to our ceremony, it was an honor and a proud moment for us to walk hand in hand with our parents, the two amazing mothers and fathers God blessed us with. Truly an honor to have them give us away to each other and start a beautiful new journey of our own with God’s blessing. Also, the entrance to our reception having the AMAZING salsa band and DJ lead this part beautifully as we danced our way in surrounded by our most loved family and friends, which started and ended an amazing night with us, we truly felt blessed.

Photography was extremely important to the both of us because we knew that this would be our only memory left of such a special day that took so much sacrifice, patience, and love into every detail throughout the entire planning. We chose Sun & Sparrow because we were drawn to each amazing photo we saw, each one spoke to us, as we were doing our research we kept going back to these photos, the shots we saw in your website truly captured some amazing images filled with love, joy, & happiness, we wanted exactly that. Sun and Sparrow was also referred to us by my sister Marla Feeney whom is a professional photographer, we just knew her recommendation was a great one and she was right 🙂

Yes, our advice to new brides is, prepare in advance even if it means tackling one item at a time, when you start checking items off your list early on, the less stressed you’ll be the closer it gets to your wedding day. The sooner you plan the better! Also, don’t stress the small stuff, no one but you will notice, remember it’s all about having fun and enjoying the most memorable moment with your loved ones. As the bride gets teary eyed, for us being with each other day to day, waking up and going to bed knowing that we both have God at the center of our marriage, each other, and a deep love for one another is our favorite part of our marriage 🙂

Gerardo & Sharlene // Luxury wedding in Santa Monica, Casa del Mar

    casa del mar wedding photographer

FROM THE BRIDE // When I reflect on our wedding day, I can’t help but continue to feel so much joy and love; it was exactly what we worked over 11 years for.  I remember waking up, surrounded by women I love, admiring the perfect weather, and thanking God for allowing another one of our dreams to come true.  I followed other brides’ advice: slow down and take it ALL in.  I paid no attention to small mistakes, day of cancellations, rumors, or others’ reactivity; it was our day and for this reason I was able to thoroughly enjoy every minute, every moment, and every emotion!  The day itself ran so effortlessly and smoothly and it was our vision come true (with the help of our wedding planner and vendors of course).

I can never really explain how we get our visions, but I immediately knew I wanted a romantic and elegant fall wedding with gold and wine colored details. I dreamed of a Catholic ceremony in a Spanish inspired church, which ultimately ended up being the most memorable part of our wedding: proclaiming our love and vows to one another in front of God and all of our loved ones.  I sought photographers that were able to achieve various styles of photography and would be able to capture special moments, intimate emotions, and help bring back that special day; tangible and still memories for us to look back on and for this reason we contracted Sun & Sparrow.  Aside from mental memories, photographs will be all that is left from your wedding!

Joel & Alyssa // Stomer Stearns Japanese Gardens wedding

Stomer Stearns wedding, Luxury Los Angeles Wedding Photographer

©2015 Sun & Sparrow Photography // Stomer Stearns Japanese Gardens wedding

FROM THE BRIDE // He’s Australian. I’m Filipino. We met in the US. The venue we fell in love with was Japanese. Hoe do we tie that all in? We decided to go with a travel/international theme. I sent out Save the Dates that looked liked postcards, invitations that looked liked passports and rsvp cards that looked liked airplane tickets. We hired a wedding planner to help us out since we moved to Seattle and already booked our venue in LA, and she found this awesome florist who knew how to make every bouquet the way I wanted them to look and improved them with her own suggestions, and still made it under the budget.
My personal favorite of the day was when we gave our vows. Joel showed off his nerdy and goofy personality with his vows and I succeeded with my promise to make him cry. I’m sure Katie, our photographer, did an excellent job of capturing his face. Ever since we found her through Sun and Sparrow and did an engagement shoot with her, we were finally feeling at ease that our photos would turn out beautifully. We weren’t feeling so confident before since we tried out several photographers who just weren’t the style we were looking for…and photos are forever.
My advice to Bride-to-be’s is: don’t do it! ….just kidding! Seriously though, if you don’t have a wedding planner,  at least have a day-of coordinator. It really helps take the stress off your shoulders to have someone take care of any last-minute stuff you didn’t think off. Which for me is transferring the cake I made for our wedding. I was freaking out that it wouldn’t make it in one piece but she just calm told me the caterers will take care of it, and they did! Also, just relax,  it may not go exactly as you planned but at the end of the day, you’ll realize it’s all worth it and that you can’t keep the stupid smile off your face every time you call him “my husband”.

Wilfredo & Sheena // Luxury wedding at the Mission Inn in Riverside

riverside mission inn wedding 1919 scaled

©2015 Sun & Sparrow Photography // Luxury wedding at the Mission Inn in Riverside

FROM THE BRIDE // So what inspired me regarding the decor I chose for the wedding was the venue itself. The Mission Inn is so romantic and beautiful, I wanted everything else to match that romantic theme. My dress was by the designer Berta. I fell in love with this dress because of its unique design, the beautiful lace, and all of the beads/pearls. My shoes were Jimmy Choo’s and actually pretty comfortable considering I didn’t break them in prior to the wedding. My earrings and rosary were by Maria Elena, she also makes beautiful headpieces. My husband’s navy tuxedo was by Theory, and matched perfectly with my dress and the theme of our wedding. Posh Peony did an amazing job on my florals, linen, and draping. Everything came out more beautiful than I imagined. I wanted a very soft romantic feel, so I went with cream roses with a hint of pale blush. I was so happy with Sweet Traders design and taste of our wedding cake. The design was beautiful. Again, I was going for a romantic theme so I had them add fondant lace appliqués to the top and bottom layer, along with some ribbon and rhinestones at the very bottom of the two middle layers, then had them add a few fresh flowers throughout. My DJ, Dance All Night DJ, did a wonderful job! He also did the lighting which added that romantic feel throughout the ballroom at the reception.

Wedding photographs were very important to me, and I decided on our venue based on the many photo opportunities of the beautiful decor and architecture at Mission Inn. At the end of the day, all you have are memories and photographs from your wedding day and that’s why I wanted to make sure I hired photographers/videographers that would capture that.  The most memorable part of our wedding day was the moment we first saw each other as I was walking down the isle and Wilfredo was waiting for me at the alter. That is a moment we will never forget.

Robert & Cassandra // Romantic Garden wedding at Strawberry Farms

      Strawberry farms Wedding 0001

FROM THE BRIDE // I didn’t want to commit to a specific theme but I had recently gotten into country music and when I began the wedding planning process I found myself gravitating towards a rustic romantic feel, so I expanded upon that. I wanted all of the décor to be fun and romantic, a reflection of us. The day came together perfectly but the most memorable part was when we exchanged our vows. We had written them together and I felt they were honest, heartfelt, and really captured our love. It was amazing to make those vows to one another in front of all of our favorite people.

I knew the day was going to fly by so it was most important to have beautiful photos to look back on. I found Sun and Sparrow almost immediately after Robert had proposed and I knew that I had to have them photograph our wedding, we didn’t even have a venue or date set yet. Sun and Sparrow captured the romance in every relationship, and I loved the soft, romantic feel all of their images portrayed.

My advice for future brides is to not stress over the little things, the most important thing is that you are marrying your best friend, have fun and enjoy the process and most importantly your big day! Spend time finding the perfect vendors, and then trust that they will bring your vision to life. Married life is better than I ever imagined, I get to have a slumber party with my best friend everyday! We both lived at home up until the wedding so it has been so much fun moving in (except if I never have to move a fridge again it would be too soon) and making a home together. I love coming home from work and cooking dinner together and talking about our day, I look forward to doing it for the rest of my life.
