It’s impossible to describe your wedding day with just a few words, resorting to magical, wonderful, everything I’ve ever wanted isn’t good enough. Leading up to the day, we thought it would never come, waking up on the morning of the wedding anxiety sets in. “OMG” is my initial thought, I am going from Miss to Mrs. this is real! Yeah that really happens. I thought about it and it sunk in, why am I freaking out? I am so ready, it’s about time! Most of the pampering, wardrobe, hair, make up all went by too fast. The next thing I remember is having to surprise my husband and unveil what I look like to him for our first look. The seconds leading up to this was an over whelming feeling of nervousness and excitement. All those feelings went away the moment he looked at me and smiled, at that moment I knew that tonight was going to be the best night of my life. From walking down the isle, saying Ido, our first dance and enjoying the night with our closest friends and family amounts to nothing compared to that moment there. A lot of people say the night is a blur, not to me….I remember everything from that moment on. I will forever play that day in my head, the day I said I do.
What was your favorite moment from your wedding day? Did you have any special moments/story with friends or family that stand out to you?
From the Bride – one of my favorite moments of the night was honoring all veterans that joined us on our special day. I had Handmade “America” signs with a little toy soilder an a note on the back, thanking them for their services.
From the Groom – Hands down the best moment of the entire night was being introduced as husband and wife In front all of our guests, Immediately afterwards we danced our first song. The song we had chosen was “Perfect”- By End Sheeran. We never discussed when to turn the music off, instead of dancing for roughly a minute as we planned, we danced for the entire length of the song 4 minutes & 20 seconds. As we both gasped and realized how long the song was, we became nervous..this turned out to be the best part of my night. Four minutes of you, me dancing alone under the stars.
What inspired you while planning your wedding & decor? Was there any special element that made your decor come together for you, personally?
From the Bride: I’ve always wanted an outdoor wedding, something about candles and simplicity was always in my mind. Having candlelights and the night stars is something I always dreamed of, Plus Pinterest doesn’t hurt.
From the Groom: I said “Yes dear” a lot. My strategy worked out great
Do you have any advice for brides/grooms who are currently planning their weddings?
From the Bride: Do not stress over the little things, when the big day comes you won’t even recall them. Be in the moment, be glad you have Tiffani there, she really makes a big difference.
From the Groom: Say ” Yes Dear” a lot, it works out fine. Don’t forget to laugh, smile and dance. Drink Plenty of Booze….to keep you warm.

Describe your experience at your wedding in 1 paragraph, everything you remember.
Jack: The first emotion I felt during our wedding was joy on a number of different levels – joy that I was about to marry the woman of my dreams, joy that all of our shared experiences were about to culminate in a wonderful celebration, and joy that all of our hard work preparing for the big day was over and that we could finally savor all the day’s special moments. The instant I saw Cindy during our first look felt like an incredible rush that didn’t let up until we woke up the next morning. The rest of the day felt like living in a fantasy. Our ceremony overlooked the Pacific Ocean on a beautiful Fall day, we had an amazing dinner with 120 of our closest friends and family, and then we danced the night away inside of a beautiful hacienda ballroom. I’m glad that we have pictures to prove that we weren’t dreaming!
Cindy: The moment my bridesmaids and I arrived to Casa Romantica I felt a surge of emotions that brought me to a high unlike any other – excitement, nerves, anticipation, delight, and so much love. I was incredibly grateful for all the hard work that our families and bridal party had put in to make this a special day, and for all of our guests that had traveled from near and far to be with us. Walking down the aisle with my father to meet Jack was the sweetest and most loving scene that we could have asked for. We read our vows in front of our closest friends and family, and in that moment I couldn’t believe how fortunate we were – not only did I get to marry a wonderful man that has brought so much happiness into my life, but we also managed to have the wedding of our dreams. The coastal views, the laughter and cheers echoing through the walls, the beautiful flowers and decorations, our wedding band playing our favorite songs, it all came together to make our wedding an incredible experience.
What was your favorite moment from your wedding day?
Out of all the amazing moments, our favorite would have to be the ceremony itself. The ceremony took place on the ocean terrace of Casa Romantica, which overlooks the San Clemente pier and the beautiful Pacific coast. The weather was warm and the skies were clear. At one point, our officiant asked us to look out on all of our friends and family in attendance, and the feeling of love and support emanating from all of our guests, coupled with the love and support we felt from each other, is something we will never forget. A close second would have to be dancing with all of our guests as we wrapped up the reception to our song, I’m Gonna Be (500 miles).
What inspired you while planning your wedding & decor?
No one really tells you how much work goes into planning a wedding, but with the help of our fantastic wedding coordinator extraordinaire, Cortney Helaine, we were able to make our wedding dreams a reality. We wanted to set the scene in a beautiful, romantic, and intimate spot, and Casa Romantica allowed us to do just that. A venue as lovely as Casa meant that we only needed to add a few personal touches to make it special. From the dark red dahlias to the San Francisco themes, we wanted to bring details that were closest to our heart. The fact that each component of the wedding had been carefully curated by us brought on a feeling of accomplishment, as well as a feeling that we were living in some sort of dream world that had been created in our imaginations.
Do you have any advice for brides/grooms who are currently planning their weddings?
So much time and effort goes into planning a wedding that it can be easy to become distracted and not be in the moment. Make sure you let yourself enjoy the big day! All of the planning and stressing will be worth it, as long as you remember to turn off that part of your brain come wedding day.
Romantic Backyard wedding in Castaic // ©2017 Sun & Sparrow Santa Barbara wedding photographers
We got married in Castaic, CA at a family friend’s beautiful home. Tucked in the hills of a very quiet and quint area…and honestly a place that I could have only imagined. We were so blessed to be gifted the use of this family’s home. The minute it was offered to us, I knew this was going to be the perfect location…..tons of greenery, a huge white rustic farm house, & a white barn to top it off! It was perfect….exactly what this Tennessee girl wanted! Because it wasn’t a typical wedding venue, there were lots of details & preparation that took place the 10 months leading up to the big day! I’m not sure how we did it, but it all came together beautifully with the help of our family. We of course had the typical small hiccups the day of (that everyone warned us about!). The weather was perfect all week and by our wedding day, it was going to be 98 degrees so we were a little nervous about that. It was a tinsy bit warm in the barn where we held the ceremony, but we were prepared. The ceremony was about 7 1/2 minutes (which was the game plan because we wanted to party!) so there was a little excessive sweating, but once the ceremony ended the sun was going down beyond the hill and the weather could not have been more perfect the rest of the night! Another little hiccup that day was that our 16 foot white chiffon draping in the barn decided to fall down an hour before the ceremony! Thank the Lord for the groomsmen and father of the groom — they were able to fix it with minor injuries (our poor coordinate took a good one to the head while trying to help, but she muscled through the night with no complaints!! She’s amazing!). And of course we (the groom & bride) knew nothing about this until after the ceremony….probably a good call there! lol.
