One day, I found out that I made it into a nursing program out of state. Because Ryan and I have only been talking for a month or so, we decided that it was best to just be friends because long distance relationships would be hard. We didn’t talk to each other for a couple of months and during those couple of months, I felt like there was an uneasy feeling of missing something. It went on like that for a while, but I knew I had to stick with my decision since I planned on moving away (even though I knew I just wanted to talk to Ryan again).
I came home one day and I saw another envelope in the mail. It was a letter congratulating me that I’ve been it into the nursing program at Cal State Fullerton for the following year. The news made me so happy, but what made it even better was the thought that possibly Ryan and I could start something up again. I took a leap of faith and texted “Hey Charming” to Ryan after months of not talking to him (Charming was my nickname for him because of the show Once Upon A Time). Ryan texted back and we met up for dinner the next day. When we first saw each other again, we both had such big smiles on our faces and I’ll never forget the hug we had. During our dinner, it was like we picked up right where we left off and everything just felt complete. From then on, we were inseparable.
Fasting forward 3 years later, Ryan planned a birthday dinner for me at his infamous “ultra cool lunch spot” at The Summit House. I joked with him saying that he didn’t really need to plan dinner again since we already celebrated it earlier that month. He said he simply wanted to treat me out. After dinner, we did what we usually do and walked to our gazebo to sit and talk. After about 20 minutes, he looked over and asked me, “Are you ready to hit the road?” I agreed and stood up to get ready to go. Ryan stood up, gave me a big hug and started telling how much he loves me and that he can’t imagine life without me. While he continued on, I realized what was happening in that moment and started tearing up (basically crying) as he went down on one knee and proposed. I am so blessed to have found the love of my life and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with him.
