FROM THE BRIDE //
From the very beginning, Nick and I knew that we were going to get married. We know that God had brought us to one another. I believe that we are matched perfectly, in every sense. From our personalities, our emotions, our likes and dislikes, and most importantly, our spirituality.
Our engagement story begins, one day when Nickolus came home and said to me, “Jennifer let’s go Ring shopping.” At that time we had only been together for 7 months, but we both knew we wanted to spend our lives together. Being the woman that I am, he knew that I would want be a part of the ring-choosing experience. I am a very particular person, but I absolutely love details! The ring that you choose for life is a big detail and I am so glad that we went together.  As we were browsing through all of the beautiful settings, Nickolus asked me to choose three rings that I liked. From there, he kept it a secret which one he would purchase for me. I
I knew he was going to get the ring, but I did not know when we would get engaged.  On August 21, 2013 Nick left me a cute note and when I woke up it read pack a bag and be ready at 7pm for dinner. As I read those words I thought this is it and I was tickled with delight.  I of course phoned all of my best friends and family members to tell them, because I knew it was coming! That evening I wore a beautiful dress in anticipation.  Nick took me to my favorite place in the world Seaport Village. My mother passed when I was 15 and it was our favorite place to go together so it holds special meaning in my heart.  Throughout the entire dinner I was waiting for him to ask me, but nothing. I felt like I was waiting and waiting for something that would never come! After dinner we walked around the bay a little, but he still did not ask. I was embarrassed and thought that I might have been wrong!  Maybe, he wouldn’t propose tonight!!  We got in the car and drove to Shelter Island and we went to a wonderful hotel and at this point. My hopes were quickly slipping away as the evening went on. But there was still a little bit of hope for me yet! Nickoulos became more silent than usual as well as during our drive he became anxious and sweaty.
We walked into the hotel suite that he had purchased for the evening. Nick quickly said can you please get me some ice out of the ice bucket. I went to the ice bucket opened it and there was the ring!!  It was the ring I had secretly hoped he would choose!  But me, being a details girl, I sarcastically joked, “Are you going to get on your knee?”  But the moment I looked at him, I saw that he had already been on his knee for a few minutes. He said,  “I love you Will you Marry me?” He was nervous and I became gleeful. Of course I said, “YES!!”  His proposal was such a sweet moment for both of us. I will never forget it!
He planned it out so perfect for me and the love we share is the most amazing part of our story. We are so blessed and filled with gratitude that God brought us together!
FROM THE GROOM //
From early on, I knew there was something special with Jennifer and me.  I am a shy person, and I do not connect easily with most people; but there was something natural about how Jennifer and I got along so well, like we were meant for each other.  That is why after a little more than 7 months, I asked her if she would like to go ring shopping.  I wanted to make sure the ring would be perfect and that she would love it.  She picked out a few that she liked, but left the final decision to me, so there would be a little bit of a surprise.  After I bought the ring, I sat in my car outside of the jewelry store for a couple minutes just staring at the ring in the box.  It became real at that point, and I was filled with excitement and joy at the opportunity to ask the woman I love to spend the rest of her life with me.
I picked a day and planned out how I was going to ask her.  I made reservations at the restaurant we went to on our first Valentine’s Day in her favorite area- Seaport Village.  I reserved a room at a hotel on Shetler Island, making sure that our room would have a great view of the Marina and Point Loma.  All the while, it took everything I had to not let it slip to her, because I could not wait for the day to come. When the day arrived, on August 21st, I left her a note in the morning telling her to be ready for dinner at 7 and to pack an overnight bag.  On my way home from work, I stopped by the hotel to check in and left the ring in the ice bucket in our room.  We had a nice, romantic dinner and walked around Seaport Village afterwards.  Occasionally I would think to myself, “I wonder if she thinks I am going to ask her right now.”  When we got in the car, I became incredibly nervous.  My heart was pounding, I tried talking but my voice was too shaky.  As we were driving to the hotel, I could tell she was wondering what was going on, but was just enjoying the moment.Almost right after we got into the hotel room, I asked her if she could get me some ice out of the ice bucket.  She curiously agreed, and when she opened it and saw the ring, she asked if I was going to get on one knee, which at that point I already was.  I had planned to give her a nice speech, but I was so nervous the only thing that came out was, “I love you, will you marry me?” After I put the ring on her finger, she jumped up and down in joy a few times.  For the rest of the night we walked along the marina, listening to the sounds of a concert in the distance, enjoying just being with each other.
