Jennifer & Thomas // Redwood Room wedding at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu

how she did it

FROM THE BRIDE // We both wanted to go for the rustic look with a touch of romance. The vibe of Calamigos Ranch, with the falling twinkle lights, the calming lakeside, breathtaking towering trees and natural rustic decor, fit our personalities perfectly!    Bride // It was when I walked down the aisle. With the song, “A Thousand Years” playing in the background and the view of the twinkle lights and chandeliers, it was a very special moment for me. I was overwhelmed with so much joy when I first saw all of my loved ones surrounding me and Thomas (with his huge smile) at the other end of the aisle. Above all, that moment was very special for me because my brother was the one who walked me down the aisle and gave me away. He is and has always been such an important person in my life. Everything about that moment was perfect. It was magical.  Groom // My favorite moment in the wedding was when I saw my bride starting to walk down the aisle, I couldn’t stop smiling because I was overcome with joy, it was like my mouth was wired from ear to ear.
WHY WAS PHOTOGRAPHY IMPORTANT TO YOU AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE SUN & SPARROW? // Photography was important to us because we knew that pictures are the only things that last after the special day. We chose Sun & Sparrow because they focus on telling stories in such creative ways. It is such a great and respectable way to approach the art of photography. With that said, we wanted to share our story and we felt that Sun & Sparrow would do that seamlessly.
DID YOU DO ANY DIY PROJECTS? IF SO, WHAT? // One of my bridesmaids, who is a graphic designer, designed our invitations for us. Another one of my bridesmaids created all of our guests’ place-cards and ceremony programs. I, for one, made the card basket and guestbook for the guest table (used burlap and white ribbon).
DO YOU HAVE ANY ADVICE FOR BRIDES WHO ARE CURRENTLY IN THE PLANNING PROCESS? // Yes! Do not spend an overwhelmingly amount of time on such small details. No one will remember the font types of your address labels or escort cards. No one will remember the color of your table napkins. No one will notice whether your flowers are ivory or white (just go with ivory – they’re more elegant). No one will remember the design/cover of your guestbook. Keep it simple.
Above all, do not compromise on your dress. Think about it… you’re spending so much of your wedding money on your guests (i.e., food, desserts, favors). The least you can do is buy/rent the dress that YOU absolutely love, for YOU.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PART OF BEING MARRIED NOWBride // His money is now my money! ;P Groom // Looking forward to starting a family with her
