FROM THE BRIDE // I meet Eric on March 9th 2012, my best friend Erica asked me to join her to see a band perform. She was friends of the band members. As we were on our way to the venue we find out the venue had double booked and they would be performing in some warehouse in Los Angeles. A little skeptical of the location, we headed over anyways on an adventure to see them play. We get there safely and get situated. From across the room I see a guy in a beanie, owning the room, his aura is confident and I’m instantly intrigued. I asked Erica “Who is that?”. “Eric, he’s in the band, have I never told you about him?” “NOOO!” Being the best friend she is she made sure to introduce us and tell him that if he was interested to ask for my number and he did later that night. I wasn’t expecting much on our first date other maybe to have a new friend (he told me while later that he didn’t think he had a chance!), it was silly to think of this “love at first sight”. I was completely wrong, within the first minutes of our date we instantly connected, I had a great time and was blown away. Within the first months we knew this would last, most importantly we were there for each other through the highs and lows of life. That is a true testament of love and I choose one else than Eric in our journey of life.
Fast forwarding to May 17th 2015, We had brunch with my family and planned on going to Disneyland afterwards. As we are getting ready to leave, I go to the bathroom. That’s when Eric shares his plan and shows them the ring. As we are leaving I invite my cousins to join us and I got blank looks from all of them. I thought their reactions were odd but didn’t think much of it. After spending some time at the park, he pulled me aside and said “I want to tell you something, but first lets go this way.” It wasn’t a far walk to the Tinkerbell pond. I asked “where are we going?” At this point I sensed something was up. We had picked my engagement ring a few weeks before. I wanted it to be a surprise and so did he. He had teased me that he would propose on my birthday or Christmas, and that would be at a few months away before I got to wear the beautiful sparkly ring. I asked him straight out “Are you proposing?”. He quickly responded “No, I wanted to, but I had to take it back to the jewelers… they set the diamond wrong”. We get to the pond and admire the sights. He wraps his arms around me and slips on the ring. I was in shock after his trickery, it was an emotional roller coaster! After I thought he didn’t have the ring I look at my hand. He laughed at my reaction and gets on his knee. I was so overjoyed with emotion we hugged and couldn’t let go of each other. I was definitely surprised and couldn’t ask for a better memory of his proposal.
